A great way to finish up my HOOPTOBER and to spend my frightfully evil HALLOWEEN NIGHT: by watching this ESSENTIAL HORROR FILM: the original 1976 classic "The Omen" - directed by Richard Donner!
Man, Donner had a great career! Such cool movies as "THE GOONIES", "SUPERMAN", "SCROOGED", "LADYHAWKE" and the entire "LETHAL WEAPON" franchise! Heck, this movie might be his only horror film! Crazy!
Well, this is a classic of horror for a reason. The ominous tone that permeates the entire film is off the chain! So unsettling and that operatic choir music is creepy as fuck! Love it so much!
Some absolutely great kills in this! I remember being nearly traumatized as a kid getting a chance to watch this far too young. Guess that explains a lot perhaps. ...heh...
A wonderful lead performance by Gregory Peck which adds such weight to the material and the story. Really strong lead. Plus you have the lovely Lee Remick who seems perfectly cast as the step-mother to Satan's child. Yikes. Not to mention the always-wonderful David Warner! Dude, that construction site scene still haunts me.
A positively delightfully devilish way to spend Halloween Night 2023!
