I have now seen this and The Lighthouse (2019) from Robert Eggers and after loving them both, my anticipation for his version of Nosferatu has been further enhanced.
Although Eggers doesn't opt to shoot in black and white in this, as he later does in The Lighthouse (2019), there is still little colour on display with the saturation as dull and bleak as that of the lives of the characters within it. Not dull as boring but as pain, misery and suffering.
The casting was perfect and I'm now excited to watch Eggers latest release The Northman (2022) as I need to see Anya Taylor-Joy in more period films, she's too perfect for them!
