***************
Horror comes in many forms, I suppose.
Most of this film deals in "real-life" horror such as domestic abuse, rape, abuse of women, psychological torture, child abuse... I mean it is a full list of HORRORS that we deal with in the "real world".
Brutal to watch. Very hard to watch.
The first two acts of this movie is full of this shit.
The final act is full of just gore and horror itself. Call it traditional horror in a sense.
It's a VERY well-made film... HOWEVER...
The filmmakers have fucked up on who the real hero of the story is. I mean this is a COLOSSAL mistake in my book. And because of that, the final part of the final act of the movie is complete and utter hot garbage.
Completely unsatisfying to me.
I can't believe I put myself through that first hour and forty minutes just for it to turn out like it did. And when a movie fucks itself so badly usually I rate it a 1/2 star or single star. But I get what they were going for... and it was a well made and well acted movie... but it fucking lost me at the very end.
I get people liking this movie and I get people hating this movie (mainly for its disturbing "real life" content). But my dislike of the film comes from the disappointment of the terrible decision-making by the filmmakers in developing this story.
Nope.
Fuck that.
