Well, I watched this again and I guess it gets five stars again. I wasn't sure during episodes 2 to 4—they dragged slightly on second viewing—but when this show hits its stride, it is perfect episode after perfect episode. There is a lovely humanist sensibility that makes uncanny beauty out of horror. For me, I will take the uncanny anytime someone can hit that tone. The writing and the performances are just top notch.
Yes, this is still his most perfect work. Midnight Mass might be more original; this is substantially more beautiful and elegant and more frightening.
The episode Two Storms is masterful. Same with *those* monologues in Screaming Meemies. You'll know what I mean when you watch, trust me.
