The final hour of the movie is pretty damn awesome and makes up for the first hour which doesn't seem anything like an EXORCIST movie.

Yeah, I think the biggest downfall of this film - which I loved, btw - is that it doesn't give enough time to the religious good vs. evil battle that is the whole point of this franchise.

But, like I said, the last hour does and it FUCKING ROCKS!

Star Leslie Odom Jr. is great in this role. Hell, he's great in most everything I've seen him in, and he carries this film on his shoulders for most of the film. Great work.

Director David Gordon Green knows how to make a good-looking film and this is no exception. There's great sound and editing as well. Just a very well put-together flick. Makes a huge difference.

Only one glaring plot hole that was never addressed: there's a moment when they're looking for someone and call the person's cell phone to find them... but they DON'T PING THE PHONE. What the hell, folks? Not even a mention as to why they don't even try or why they are unable to if that's the case.... but it bothered the dogshit out of me.

Had to get that off my chest.
Thanks for your indulgence.

But - other than that - I really dug this movie. The final scene in particular brought chills - actual chills to my arms. Very nice.
