”Ah, body bags. You see, if it's murder, suicide or a nasty accident, they put them in here.”

I really love how even though it’s so simple in what it does, but the John Carpenter Coroner character that goes in-between all the segments really shines on its own. Something that I’ve noticed in a very limited amount of anthology films I’ve seen is there’s never a good merger between them and with this one it’s one of the best aspects. But besides that, the first segment “The Gas Station” is easily the best. A perfect atmosphere built up and the menacing and desperation feel of it all knocks it out of the park. It’s a bit loose in terms of the slasher genre, but it really does solidly that that’s my favorite sun-genre of horror. Now, the other two segments…. just were not it for me. “Hair” was borderline boring for me, and “Eye” just never hit the mark (ha pun!) for me in any terms. It sucks because this was really one of Carpenter’s films I was looking forward to the most. Still, Body Bags isn’t without its merits and it’s a quick 90 minutes; just wish had more meat on the bone.
