Hooptober X: The Devil Made Me Do It

I'm not sure why Edgar Allen Poe gets credit for "inspiring" this film, because it was very clearly based on Lovecraft's "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward." Hell they even used the same name for the main character!

It's spooky season and that means you owe it to yourself to watch Vincent Price in something. He plays double roles as an evil warlock and his mild mannered descendent. The setting is a cursed, desolate New England town with deformed townsfolk shuffling through layers of fog in the shadow of a ruined castle. Immaculate vibes.

There isn't much action, but you do see Price cackle maniacally while setting dudes on fire. There's a really disappointing creature reveal -- the warlock releases a humanoid fish monster but instead of putting a guy in a rubber suit, they just filmed a motionless monster and gave it a wavy effect. Really weak and disappointing, not sure if they ran out of money or what. Still, you get Vincent Price hamming it up in a Lovecraft adaptation with fantastic set pieces, so I'm down with it.
