Hoop-tober Dix Chapter Six: Eh
"You know, you're pushy."
Goofy shit. Richard Donner had many great strengths and virtues, none of which made him compatible with horror. Pacing's off, story's bland, length's bloated. Not without its charms, including Peck's sheer commitment, some good kills, and the nifty Oscar-winning score, but mostly dry and empty. A lot of these "scary" devil movies seem to hit a lot harder with viewers raised on evangelical superstition, even those who have long since grown out of it.
