"How does an isolated tribesman in Ecuador know the difference between an alien, an angel, and a ghost?"
"I have no idea."
"He doesn't, but he tells a story to make sense of the infinite."
In a world full of humble indie horror flicks, Moorhouse and Benson seem to be the true wizards at crafting a compelling cinema narrative out of spare change and pocket lint - probably because they have TALENT, literally pouring off of them in waves. That's right. Literally.
In a poignant twist of fate, they have become captive to a malevolent trans-dimensional entity which forces them to relive history over and over again, just to see how their sanity holds up to this constant repetition of the same material. This force is entirely inescapable, and the real fear is the decreasing likelihood that it can be stopped from expanding and swallowing up the entire world.
I am of course talking about Disney, because apparently Justin and Aaron are now making Marvel television shows? I'd like to celebrate true talent getting access to a bit of well-paid security, but I can't help but worry that this is just a creative meat grinder that will leave them (and us) artistically unfulfilled. Resolution is exactly the kind of movie that Disney, or any major studio, would never make.
The raw materials are crude but a combination of great performances (what has happened to these actors, btw?), intriguing script and truly stellar editing turns this film into something quite compelling and somehow quite fun.
"There really are a lot of weird people out here."
