Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, directed by Terence Fisher? I'm in.

Like all of Fisher's films, THE GORGON features lavish sets, vibrant colors and gorgeous atmosphere. Cushing and Lee are wonderful together as always. We don't get a lot of them together, but they make it work. Some scenes are very talky, but I don't mind considering the cast.

THE GORGON is based on the legend of Medusa. The film isn't particularly scary -- the titular creature isn't scary at all on her own, but the build-up is solid and seeing her victims stumbling about while slowly turning to stone is pretty creepy. Like other Hammer jams, THE GORGON has immaculate cozy autumn vibes.
