The sum of the parts isn't as good as on their own but it was fun enough. Kinda wish Jessie actually got more to do lmao

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
There are a few issues that stop me from giving it 4 stars but man this got under my skin really badly. I've experienced this sort of dynamic between parents before as a child so that immediately hit me in the guts. I think everybody realizes how the movie is gonna end but I think the way the movie builds up to it is incredible and it uses the intimacy of home movies in a perfect way. Also that perspective change in the middle of the movie was legit shocking a bit.

This was so filled to the brim with ideas that the hour long runtime should have been extended some more imo. Loved the pulpy and melodramatic feel to the whole thing and every mecha protag needs their own Voards. The aesthtic mix of ww2 era clothing/arhitecture with fucking android lightsaber bodyguard squads and giant gold mechs and hoverbikes was just a joy to me and I really can't explain why!
