ok I have a lot to say.

first, i illegally streamed the 2009 remake when I was like 14 and i loved it and it haunted me and i’m sure if i revisited it, i’d be like, this is a terrible movie. but i won’t do that, and so it has a special place in my heart. 

the tone of this movie is insanely imbalanced. and it plays out the disturbing violence toward its young women for too long, and takes it all too lightly.  

but! i am very here for the parents’ revenge. at least there’s that! 

it’s a hard watch, and quite upsetting. but it’s also weirdly beautiful and mesmerizing. I don’t know! It did more for me emotionally than I expected. I couldn’t look away.
