This 16 year old Jewish woman just invented scatological humor and body horror.
Maybe our real friends were the anomalies we found along the way.
As a big fan of the game, the movie version was almost as tense and nerve-shredding. The layered storytelling approach kept it interesting and the whole movie just looks and sounds fantastic. Liminal space fans are having a feast with movies right now. 😋
The vertiginous camerawork and some of the makeup effects create some imagery that I won't soon forget. The choice to have the viewer hear the killer's inner monologue as he commits his crimes, while interesting, comes off as clunky and weighs the story down. I was entertained but nowhere near as floored by this as the O.G., but to be fair that movie has to rank among my top five of the 2010s. For the positives, I loved the kills, the superb ending, and the goat. 🐐
I did feel like it suffered from Too Many Characters Syndrome and some of the dialogue felt very throwaway. Overall, I enjoyed seeing it in the theater and I'd recommend you to do the same if you love the first movie!
