I vaguely remember a few scenes of LADY IN WHITE from when I was a little kid, so it was good to finally watch the whole thing. Starring Lukas Haas from WITNESS, it's got a lot of small town Halloween atmosphere with a dash of Christmas at the end. The story is a little more complex than it needs to be -- there's a ghost girl, the titular lady in white and a third mystery woman, but they could have told a better story with just the first two.

There was some solid light-hearted humor like the Italian grandfather who hides cigarettes around the house so he can sneak a smoke. There are also genuinely touching moments and genuine thrills -- we're dealing with a child predator, grieving parents and racism, after all.

While some of the ghost effects look dated, there's beautiful imagery, like the poster scene where little Frankie is locked in the coat closet and the moonlight hits him from the window, or the burning house on the edge of the cliffs.
