“We come here, and we gonna conquer, and we gonna kick some.”
Hooptober movie 13 (bonus) with another Alien movie. I really love this series and these Xenos
I haven’t rewatched these sequels in a very very long time. I remember first seeing this movie back in the 80s and thinking it was pretty good. I thought ok it has Paul Reiser - one of the dads from my favorite show My Two Dads (& also he’s in Mad About You w/ Helen Hunt - my mom’s fave show at the time) so he can’t be the bad guy. The Terminator hero - Michael Biehn, would probably be a hero again here.
From there I was just all about Sigourney Weaver. She should’ve won the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was nominated and I wouldn’t have know that if my mom hadn’t mentioned that. She thought she won but it went to Marlee Matlin for Children of a Lesser God. Oh and Bishop the AI… I was so waiting and expecting him to be the bad guy because Ripley doesn’t trust AIs.
You know who was also in Terminator with Michael Beihn? Bill Paxton and Lance Henriksen. Oh and James Cameron directed both movies. So… is this like Terminator? A little. It even has some moments with the music mantra to ramp up the suspense just like Terminator. It had Michael stepping aside while the heroine Ripley (who without Sigourney this movie would’ve tanked) kicked some major Xenomorph alien butt. She uses a machine to make herself bigger to kick the Queen Xenomorph. I guess James couldn’t back away from those machines.
Do I like this as much as Ridley Scott’s Alien? Very close. The beginning of this movie is super long. Like really long. Didn’t feel like much action until the dramatic ending and there is definitely not enough Xenos screen time. Would I rewatch it again! In a heartbeat.
(btw AvP Alien vs Predator - I see what you did there with bringing Lance Henriksen in your movie. Nice tribute.)
Alien franchise.
