If someone told me that bell swinging was a possible career path I’d be pivoting so har right now.
My list: WINE AND DINE WITH ME IN HELL!!!
Starts of feeling slow but what was accomplished here feels really cool.
The last scene with the angry mob attacking a castle as the hunchback wildly throws shit at them. Amazing.
Beyond that it was hard to feel connected to the movie. Filmmaking has come such a long way it’s hard for me to look at some of these movies and feel the same sort of connection.
Feels primitive in its techniques and form with cut away dialogue to the scratchy BnW film. The worst offender being the music that is most likely not what the original filmmaker intended.
Film back then was performance based now it’s reliant on so many departments and hands. It was a beautiful time in film but it’s no longer acceptable if it were to be released today.
Still this was a fun peak into the past. One that I’ll remember for some time.
