Hooptober 8.0 - more extra credit
Here's a humble film from the 1980s that fits firmly into a small but definite genre. A Letterboxd colleague of mine proposed this genre be called "Shaft Grabbers"....but upon reflection decided that wasn't the most appropriate designation.
So, this film is a mineshaft/cave monster thriller....so I'll call these movies....oh, who cares. You know. Films like Beast From Haunted Cave, The Boogens, The Descent, etc.
Sadly, this movie did not have exploitation gurus like The Cormans or Monte Hellman to give it some style. It's not really bad but the deficits are glaring: occasional sub-professional acting, murky camerawork, fairly flaccid dialogue, and so forth....not to be a crank or anything, though.
