Don’t get hooked! 💔
Lovers Lane aka I'm Still Waiting For You is as conventional as they come, a Valentine’s Day based slasher flick that takes all the elements from I Know What You Did Last Summer—hook and all—and soaks it all up into a post-Scream cheesefest—with a young Anna Faris running around in a cheerleaders uniform, so she’s extra cute! This plays off like a cheap riff on the urban legend hook-for-a-hand premise, killing horny obnoxious teens in the dead of night on lovers lane! Too bad the thrills grew tiresome as did the one chick who kept screaming, and the kills are boring and off-screen with only some slashing (hooking?) and blood splatter. mostly forgettable slasher fare but we’re slacking on Valentine’s Day horror, so this will have to do.

Wow. This has so many morsels of goodness, that I couldn’t help but love this film. First, I didn’t realize it was filmed in and around my hometown. The XXX rootbeer is in Issaquah, WA, not far from me. The bowling alley is in Snoqualmie where I live. And I recognized some mini marts, parking lots, etc. So that made this was really fun. And Anna Faris, god bless her. When she grabbed 3 knives. 😍. Did they really have to do her like that though? Where are they getting all these hooks? Prison Food Sucks. Line drive bitch. There’s so much here that made me chuckle, I wish I had taken better notes. Awesome pick! Can’t wait to read everyone else’s reviews of this one.
Degrees of Kevin Bacon: 2
1. Anna Faris and Denise Richards in Scary Movie 3
2. Denise Richards and Kevin Bacon in Wilds Things
not that i had any doubts before but this movie made me realize just how perfect the casting of Anna Faris was in Scary Movie.
Anna Faris has been iconic since day 1 ❣️ this movie could be better in ways i suppose but really i think it’s a fun slasher from the 2000s that reminds me of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream for its use of horror with a blend of comedy. i can’t wait to own the blu-ray eventually!
anna faris is SOOOOOO good in this honestly treasure her forever she is doing the most and we just let her marry chris pratt like that. SORRY ANNA
For this Valentines Day, why not take a trip down Lovers Lane! Ok, ok, ok... that line is about as corny as this movie was. Wonky acting, but was an ok slasher. There is nothing ground breaking here, so don’t get your hopes up. Still worth at least one watch. Try not to get “hooked”. 😉

Alright, I won’t go on [as much of a] tangent this time, and will [try to] produce a very functional review. I now have at least 50 if not 70 films to log and review, so I will try to keep the therapy and film addict’s self-medication to a minimum... okay, I didn’t really, but I have moved it to the end.
Oh noooo ... Not Anna Faris!
(I literally mean this, with The Anna Faris, in an early role, and not referring to our fearless leader @NotAnnaFaris, the founder of our slasher club)
I really enjoyed seeing Faris in MAY recently - a very underseen classic - but she gives a fairly standard performance here, sadly. She hadn’t…
When everything is coming your way, you're probably in the wrong lane.
I know what you did last Valentine.

Well that was actually surprising. At first it wasn’t really grabbing me and I couldn’t really get into these characters. Then it slowly started pulling towards its mystery and I was able to have some fun with it. We also get some pretty wacky one liners and as it comes together in that final act, I was invested. Decent gore too and it does look kinda cheap overall, but that just added to its charm imo.
A solid Valentines Day slash and I could see it paired up with My Bloody Valentine for a double feat! Can’t go wrong with that alt poster either, what a beauty! 6.4/10🪝
this is chock-full of hilarious line deliveries but the clear winner for me is “you are gonna fuck me right now or i’m gonna kill your faggot ass.”
Arrow did good work on the restoration for this sadly pretty low-rent Valentine's Day themed slasher most notable for kickstarting the career of screen legend Anna Faris. Considering how heavily it leans into the popularity of Scream it's not particularly stylish or playful with its insanely generic urban legend premise of an escaped mental patient/hook-handed killer who targets teens at... guess where... Has a decently bloody body count I guess but a lot of the early stuff is just a completely straight high school drama/TV movie of the week that eventually gives way to a series of home invasion horror setpieces that occasionally rise to the heights of mediocre episode of Tales from the Crypt.
Well, hi there.
Happy Valentine's Day, my lovelies! 💘
We escape the 1960s to talk about this sweet late 90s slasher starring Anna Faris and some dude named Riley Smith who was in Make It Happen - and I honestly don't remember watching it and can only recall that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was in that.. and let's go back to this film or else we'll be singing the praises of our scream queen Mary Elizabeth for the rest of the week.
Based on the urban legend, The Hook, a man with a hook for a hand - as expected - escapes from a mental institution to murk teenagers in and around ~lovers lane~. 💞
So, this is painfully stereotypical. The…
