i absolutely love stumbling upon a new woman to become obsessed with, but the thing is, i shouldn’t just now be stumbling upon shere hite - this woman was a revolutionary and i’m shocked to have known nothing about her before today. i’m so glad this doc exists because it’s better late than never, of course, but what an embarrassment that she’s not a household name in the present day. hoping this sparks a sherenaissance, she deserves the recognition for pioneering discussions of sex & sexuality for women, love, and so much more. 

also, just as an aside, it’s upsetting how much her pr team failed her. booking her for a string of interviews in outwardly hostile environments, not managing expectations, allowing things to escalate that far seemingly outside her wishes, etc. i mean seriously. booking her on maury, where she thinks she’s going to have a serious discussion about her research only to be blindsided by someone she’d had an altercation with? why the fuck would you ever book her on maury in the first place??? all press is not good press! not when it comes to fucking maury!
