I've seen this movie before, but my recollection was only of the second half. As soon as Blondie appeared, I started to remember bits and pieces. But watching felt like trying to grasp a memory. Then once Faye Wong showed up I felt completely grounded. She's a real one for listening to California Dreamin' on repeat. Who could resist Tony Leung?

This made me feel nostalgia, hope, melancholy, despair, yearning, regret. I reflected on my teenage self and who I am now. The years have slipped by just as Maddy described and it feels wrong. It's always felt wrong. I feel disconnected from the world. Is the person I used to be part of who I am now? How do I envision a future when I can't let go of the past? Are all of my meaningful relationships behind me? Why is it so tempting to want to rekindle the past? Is there still time?
