"I wonder if he'll travel well."
Wow! Theatre of Blood HAS ππ» IT ππ» ALL ππ». Drama, comedy, thrills, chills, nontraditional slashing, & plenty of grizzly, gruesome MURDER.
The kills are creatively up there with the likes of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, except they're better since this is rated R. There's even oompa-loompas in the form of drunken drifter folk.
Much like his character (Edward Kendall Sheridan Lionheart), Vincent Price is given the spotlight & center stage to perform iconic Shakespeare roles, with some minor rewrites, of course. He also EXTRA in the best way π€© Watching him shift between characters - each more colorful than the one before - is truly divine...but I gotta say, wigs off to Diana Rigg, who refuses to blend into the background. Her performance here is equally worth celebrating, & they both get a standing O from me ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
The rest of the film is fab, too. Versatile score, fun editing, great costumes & production design. Tho I'm curious about the purple drank that's so popular among our coterie of vagrants π€
All in all, what's not to like about this juicy revenge tale spliced with Willy Wonka & Shakespeare's greatest hits?
Excellent flick pick once again, @Sam G
POODLES of fun!

PS: I'll tell ya one thing - if the Academy knows what's good for 'em, they'll conspire to ensure Mark Wahlberg gets the Oscar he knows he deserves.
