I really appreciate that the focus of this was on the town and residents of The Africatown. I feel like in the hands of most other filmmakers they would have focused on the discovery of the Clotilda and the residents would have been an afterthought. I appreciate Margaret Brown giving them the agency to tell their story. I also really appreciated that Zora Neale Hurston's connection to this town was not only included but there was a focus on her career as an anthropologist and filmmaker which I feel like people aren't as familiar with. I also loved seeing clips form her shorts.
