Heard many say Nolan's Inception copied PAPRIKA, but other than a tenuous link of entering dreams, I don't see it. Kon once again plays with reality, but like Perfect Blue, this doesn't live up to Tokyo Godfathers. The multi-layers of dreams & odd connection between Chiba & Paprika felt pointless 3*

Hoped MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE could be a fun addition to the Time Travel genre, but it was pretty disappointing. Grabinski overused that weird, choppy slo-mo technique & the action felt like 87North-lite. The acting is fine with some funny moments, but I'm mad it spoiled Gilmore Girls AYitL 3*

LE SAMOURAI is better than Le Cercle Rouge! Delon does amazing work, often with minimal dialogue (Melville seems to like directing silence). The opening has barely any exposition but terrific payoffs & the final cat & mouse chase has been copied often but never improved upon

Finally a movie about the importance of dusting! THE HOST is a fascinating mix of genres—horror, comedy, family drama, action. The first riverside monster chase scene was amazing. Effects felt a tad outdated & the middle sagged but despite knowing the ending, it was still fun! 4*
