I watched this for the title. I stayed for Sophia Loren ♥️ The beginning when she’s describing the perfect way to make a cup of coffee is how I want mine made!
I love the tagline for this:
“If you were a ghost in Sophia's house you wouldn't stay in the attic either”
A bit of a spoiler here because despite the title of the movie, there isn’t a ghost until after Sophia and Vittorio Gassman leave Italy. But that was ok for me because of all the drama with the palace Vittorio’s character finds… and rent free too… with some “peculiar advantages.” It almost reminded me of The Shining… almost.
There is some good comedy in this and then there’s just plain dullness. It tries to be a spoof on the supernatural and on Italian marriage. I was bored with the added plot of the Duke and the Nuns to scare off Vittorio. I was waiting for him to go insane from being “haunted” but sadly they didn’t expand on that comedy so it’s just left dry.
So if you’re looking for a poltergeist kind of movie, you’ll only find 1 ghost in the last few minutes of this movie with that quick cameo of Marcello Mastroianni.
Before that scene, Sophia Loren gets to pretend to be a gorgeous ghost and I really loved it!
