Guillermo del Toro’s debut is an interesting take on the vampire genre, i’m not sure if I would consider this to be a vampiric film but it is a unique take on it as it reminded me of The Addiction by Abel Ferrera a little bit as well.
I’m not sure how people view this as cheesy because I really thought it was a solid film, and I thought it was quite sad to see the main character struggle a lot with the addiction of using the device without knowing the side effects which is a allegory for drug addiction. My only complaint would be that it was short! I loved each moment of it.
