I figured since I rewatched the original for my Hooptober challenge I had to rewatch this one. This year was the first time I saw the 1960 original movie and I loved it, even without the songs.
So this month TCM aired it on Sunday for their Classic Horror movies with Mario Cantone. His comments on this movie and why he chose it for the movies he’s hosting is spot on.
Oh and Frank Oz! Yup, I’m with Mario Cantone who wants Frank to direct all the musical movies. I loved the songs in this movie! Even though it’s been decades since I’ve seen the 1980s remake I still remembered the songs! 🖤
It has been a long time since I last saw this version and omg the plant! I remember now that when I first saw this movie the ending battle with the plant and Seymour freaked me out. Just the way they made the plant so big and then able to no longer stay inside it’s pot… like finally it’s free and able to be the monster it is!
The cast is just great in this movie. And John Candy 💔
