Elijah Bigler’s review published on Letterboxd:
Tender is probably the best word to describe it. The wounds from Frankie and Irene's relationship are still fresh. Everyone who loves them both is unable to really deal with the fact of Frankie's mortality. So they all try to treat the situation as a lovely chance to see everyone again.
What Harjo absolutely succeeds at is letting the audience go along with it. We are so charmed by the setting, by these characters, that any reminder of the gravity of the situation is deeply, deeply cutting. It's emotionally effective without manipulation, a differentiation that I also felt throughout the first season of Reservoir Dogs. Definitely a film I need to revisit or share around.
