"Suck my spinning steel, shithead!"

I love how Peter Jackson's early filmography feels like he sat in a room and said "what's the most disgusting thing I can put on film?" And while I didn't love Meet the Feebles and I ADORE Dead-Alive (or Braindead depending on where you're from), Bad Taste was a film of his that I had not gotten to yet.

I've said this before in my reviews for Jackson's earlier stuff but it's crazy that he got to do Tolkein. Like, it just doesn't make much sense, but I'm so glad that he did. Bad Taste has all the goopy, disgusting, slimy, bloody goriness that you would expect from early Jackson and I love it.

This film is a great example of just how great a storyteller Jackson is. He takes this simple premise (aliens want to turn humans into hamburgers) and elevates that by adding all the right elements. The gross gore factors into the story and characters well (I'm thinking about how Derek keeps packing his brain back into his skull).

A totally fun movie.
