HOOP-TOBER 8
EXTRA CREDIT
1940s gangster gets killed, so he possesses a young law student to exact his revenge. It’s not a somewhat familiar premise (at least in framework), but that’s not what makes J.D.‘s Revenge so entertaining.
What carries J.D.‘s Revenge is an all-in performance from Glynn Turman as not only Ike, but as J.D. in Ike’s body. I didn’t care about anything other than watching Ike strut in a his old gangster suit doing an evil J.D. impression. A ton of theatricality, a deliciously campy performance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
