Fresh Kill
★★★★★ Liked Rewatched

My sixth time through, this time watching through on the newly remastered blu-ray.

As a whole? Absolutely a step up from the bootleg digital copy with wonky subtitles I've been watching for years. The film really pops, and while some of the scenes noticeably change in resolution (most notably footage that presumably was copied in the original version) I think that kinda adds to the experience.

My only issue? The subtitles. There's a few noticeable slip-ups between ambiguous words (confusing…

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done
★★★½ Liked Watched

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2009) is my third Werner Herzog film, and probably the weakest so far. It's still pretty good, mind you. But I don't think it comes together as well as it could have.

The film is hard to follow. I couldn't keep track of the characters motivations, what they thought of each other, how much time had…

Jojo Rabbit
★½ Watched

Jojo Rabbit (2019) is one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's awkward, clumsy, and cannot commit to what it wants to be. Is it a comedy? Well then it has a single good joke. Is it a romance? Well a "nazi x Jew" romance isn't very appealing. Is it a wartime drama? Well the war hardly matters in the scheme of things. So it's just a big pile of nothing? Probably.

Taika Waititi tried to do two different…
