By defying the tried & tested Hollywood formula and introducing his own narrative style that was more character driven, glamorised violence and also brought characters' moral ambiguity into play, thus bringing both heroes & villains on the same plane, Sergio Leone presented a whole new outlook of the Old West in A Fistful of Dollars and with this second chapter, he further cemented his redefinition of westerns.

The second instalment in Leone's Dollars Trilogy is an improvement over its predecessor in almost all aspects of filmmaking and showcases a developing maturity in his craftsmanship. Starring Clint Eastwood as a bounty hunter who later partners with another bounty hunter in pursuit of the same outlaw and together make a deal of splitting the reward but when it comes down to the final showdown, one of them shows his true motive behind the hunt.

Featuring an improved direction from Leone, For A Few Dollars More presents the director in more control of his artistry and has a stronger script to muster ahead with. The scope of its camerawork, the precision of editing and neat production design get welcome upgrades. The performances from the recurring cast also prove to be better than the previous entry, with Eastwood & Lee Van Cleef impressing the most.

On an overall scale, For A Few Dollars More is another huge step towards nailing the coffin on traditional westerns and presents notable evolution in each department in comparison to its predecessor. Ennio Morricone's score also leaves a bigger mark than before and it's rather interesting how effortlessly it accompanies the drama. A rare sequel that improves upon the original, this spaghetti western comes very highly recommended.
