loved this and just couldn’t put it down. excuse my yap but here’s some scattered thoughts:
- i think this does an excellent job of showing how rape / sexual assault victims can suffer from a really deep-rooted need to be in control of their life, or those around them, that can feel impossible to move on from. for example, i initially found it annoyingly misogynistic how older!ruben was being about mona, saying he needs to control her and stuff…

still a bit unsure what to make of it. chiwetel was amazing, i think renate was fine but the subdued-ness she played her character with didn’t work much for me.
i do really like the ending, but weirdly enough, i also kinda dislike how the film doesn’t let us just get lost in the liminal spaces. imo, the sequence where clark, bobby & kat explore the back rooms together was EASILY the most gripping of the whole movie.
