Oh boy. I barely made it through this one. A film like this needs a ton more gore and nudity.
Severin Blu-ray is a very nice release though. It's double disc set with the sequel (which was filmed simultaneously)

Undoubtably, surfing on the back of a massive crocodile so you can repeatedly stab it in the head, is exactly the kind of machismo crazy you want in a film like this. Unfortunately, for most of the film we’re following a gang of ecologists who are all ‘don’t hurt the rare crocodile’, so the rest of this of-course-it’s-an-Italian-Jaws-rip-off doesn’t quite live up to that moment. But it’s still decent, if maybe a little more light-hearted than you’d expect. The crocodile isn’t too bad looking (even though it looks like it has hands), at least five people meet their grizzly ends and there’s some lovely river scenery. And it delivers pretty much the kind of low-rent late-80s silliness you want when you put on a film called Killer Crocodile.
Take a bunch of college environmentalist types, send 'em down river in a foreign country to investigate a toxic waste dump site, and have a MASSIVE killer croc eat a bunch of random folks along the way. Yep, I'm on board!
The characters are entertaining, there's a bunch of ridiculous scenes of people being turned into bubbly gore puddles, and the crocodile fx look pretty decent all things considered. But Joe... Joe is the heart and soul of this movie! Not taking any shit from no radioactive river reptile as he shoots, stabs, and SURFS that ugly beast down into the depths of hell. God, that shot was so cool! And then there's that hat toss at the end that was so absolutely LEGENDARY! I thought for sure he was a ghost coming back to help his pals, if so I would've five-starred this sucker so quick... Ah well, it's still an enjoyable lil crocodile flick. Nothing more, nothing less.

4. A movie with Americans in another country
A bunch of American college students go down the river and deliver a fun crocodile movie! It’s a total Jaws rip-off right down to the music, but it really delivers in the important areas of technicolor gore and hilarious crocodile effects. If only there had been a little more action and a little less talking, this would be a solid 4 star deal.
There’s also a sequel which obviously I’ll have to track down.

So I keep hearing all this stuff about how the world is going to end and western civilisation is terrible etc but Killer Crocodile has just had a 2k restoration and collectors edition blu ray release, so I think we're doing just fine! This is a cheesy Italian Jaws rip focusing on a group of environmentalists that head off down the river to investigate a load of toxic waste that has been dumped there. Turns out that toxic waste creates giant fake crocodiles, and our heroes are in big trouble! To be fair, as fake crocodiles go, this one isn't half bad. Toxic waste is being thrown into a river, a group of environmentalists...(one who is incredibly bossy and needed to get chewed up as soon as possible) find out they’re dealing with a non-blinking, gigantic, man-eating crocodile lurking underwater! With some horrid dubbing, people in constant peril, wacky Italian gore effects, and one of the best man vs. animal endings ever, make for a pretty decent killer crocodile flick!

I thought the measure of being a tough manly man® was not crying while you get your flu shot*, but apparently it is surfing a 25 ft. crocodile while also impaling it with a spear..

My thoughts while watching this fun flick:
- The killer crocodile looks awesome! It's a fat, hungry and scary bastard.
- I also belong to the generation that was highly traumatized as a child by such films, above all ,,Jaws‘‘.
- There is a second part? Awesome! I'll pull it in soon, too.
- My taste is really very questionable.
- Do I have more beer in the fridge?
It's like Piranha and Jaws by way of an Italian cannibal film except instead of indigenous people it's a giant toxic waste croc. And then a bunch of crunchy granola hippies are like whaaa don't kill the killer crocodile he's just an endangered specie and it's really the radioactive wastes fault and then after a couple of them become snacks they're like alright let's kill this mfr. Oh and there's a boat that blows up from hitting the shore which is laugh out loud funny. Cheap and derivative creature jam that's watchable but it's very stupid, and proud of it.
Wacky Italian crocodile mayhem yes I'm in! This was good fun. Many of the fine qualities of Italian horror mixed with a hilarious killer animal plot. You've got the entertaining dubbing, solid gore, wack late 80s styles and a giant crocodile prop that actually looks pretty darn good! Gi gi gi giddy up!

You know... it's not typically considered a secret what bodies of water contain crocodiles or alligators. Typically there are signs posted everywhere and if you're in certain regions of the world, it's just kind of given that you don't go swimming in those places. For example, the first woman we sees decides to jump in the water because it's "nice" and is promptly eaten by a croc while her clueless boyfriend plucks his guitar on shore completely oblivious to the fact that she's croc chow. He doesn't even acknowledge her screams because he's busy trying to become the next Jason Mraz... or whoever the late 80's/early 90's equivalent is... maybe Freedy Johnston or Matthew Sweet.
