Berlinale 2022 No. 16

The last Berlinale movie this year is another one from the category 'Nightmare Mexico'. However, it's the movies, the directors and the artists who find a language to express anciety, violence and distrust in failing state authorities. Mexico is much more than that.

There's probably not many people who aren't affected by the madness of the cartels and the corrupt elites. Robe of Gems finds a great cinematographical approach to this situation and probably delivers one of the strongest shots this year (the final scene, no spoiler here). In the end I was left with a lot of questions and I would have wished for some clarification but now I have to watch this again and I will. What a ride.
