To say that I’m impressed by Interstella 5555 is an understatement. Though I have never been hugely into Daft Punk, I was amazed by how well the music and visuals melded together. The excellently made techno music and the creative, neon-colored worlds completed each other perfectly. The story is simple, but is enhanced by other qualities. However, the story also touches on the negative effect robotic corporate executives can have on talented artists, turning them into soulless imitations of themselves. This theme was shown in even subtle ways and made me connect to the characters, who didn’t get much in terms of development and growth, which would usually turn me off to them. But I was able to get invested in them and the story. Interstella 5555 is different from any other movie that I’ve seen. It beams with creativity and features insane concepts like a guitar-shaped spaceship. It is an experience that is meant to be felt, but also has much to appreciate besides the vibes.
