Depictions of NYC from various eras and neighborhoods. Films are organized chronologically by when they take place. (not by release date) ***Check NOTES for which neighborhoods are prominent in each film.
I believe seeing things in this way paints an interesting picture of how neighborhoods have changed over time.
From personal experience being here, I only know the 80s to the present and tried to include films that showed a realistic view of at least a subset of New York. I'm trying not to duplicate movies with overlapping demographics/neighborhoods from the same era and avoiding films where NYC merely makes a cameo, instead focusing on showcasing those that really show the city.
