Greetings from the birthplace of Zelda Rubinstein, Rusty Cundieff, Mario Joyner and Scott Glen. This is Hooptober Cinco.
This year sees the 40th Anniversary of Dawn of the Dead and the 50th of Night. It's also the 30th of Brain Damage, 20th of Ringu, 60th of The Blob and the 70th of Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. There's a reason I point that out.....

Last years version was our biggest yet, and gave us hundreds of great lists and several thousand reviews, thoughts and impressions to read. The most enjoyable part for me, as always, was to see what everyone chose to watch, and the reactions to some of the stranger shit out there that people found.
I will begin as I did the last four years: I would like to do 31 horror films in October, but that doesn't seem possible at the moment so I will start my 31 on September 15th.
I WILL ACTUALLY REVIEW THEM ALL (I really mean that). Those of you not new to the LB block know that horror is near and dear to my heart.
-I challenge anyone to do the same and use the TAG HoopTober5.0 so we can read each others stuff.
-If you are going to do it, list your link to YOUR list in the comments and i will add it to the intro to help others find your list. ( Hoop-tober index is HERE, 2.O HERE, 3.O HERE, 4.O HERE)

I was going to suggest a few weeks back that we form a protective circle around John Carpenter, as we have lost Craven, Romero and Hooper right before past Hooptobers. We seem to be in the clear.
No more sadness. Let's get on with it.
