78/39 - Bonus Watch

Final watch of this year’s Hooptober and my wife asked if she could join me for a rewatch of her favorite Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. Now that we have a baby (and another on the way) my wife isn’t watching too many movies with me anymore, so when she requested this I remembered that a husband’s job is to say “yes” early and often.
I had picked up the new 4K HDR disc so was interested to see how it looked. We weren’t disappointed. The picture looked absolutely amazing. Sure the seams on some of the effects were more apparent now, but the joy and magic of the film still came through.
This is just a fun family Halloween watch. The witches are hilarious and the kids aren’t too annoying. It feels like a Disney channel original with a much bigger budget. It also was interesting watching this the day after Viy. Something about the music and witch effects reminded me the Russian classic (though without the bonkers demon action).
Honestly, this was just super fun and it was great watching something other than solo for the first time in over six months.
