Action! - Female 4 Front: Shea's Poison to Stripped Down The Rage of Teens
Katt Shea, who I think most of us only know from her work on the sequel(?) to Carrie, is a director with a really odd film career, almost on par with Penelope Spheeris's.
This trend was kicked off by a movie that put the striptease in the spotlight. In fact, the vast bulk of her running time consists of various sequences of girls dancing, interspersed with cuts to somewhat horny men. There is also the rare murder with a heated resolution. like literally. The writing has its share of humorous exchanges, and the murders are serviceable. The soundtrack is without a doubt the best aspect of…
A psycho is stalking the dancers at the Rock Bottom strip club. When one of the ladies is brutally murdered in front of Detective Cody, and her partner, Detective Heineman. Cody, does what any cop would do, she goes undercover as a stripper to solve the case, in this erotic thriller produced by Roger Corman, and directed by Katt Shea.
The Rock Bottom strip club lives up to its name. It has a cheap ass owner played by Mr. Roper from Three's Company, zero security, gawking patrons such as Mr. Pockets, and the most bootleg strip club DJ ever. However, the dancers, look and act just like real strippers. That's because Katt Shea cast real life strippers to play the…
like dance with death another movie about a professional lady going undercover to solve stripper murders, this is surprisingly sensitive to strippers?? it is like 70% grimy neon strip scenes (although some are kinda interesting and fun imo) and its really sleazy and i like bad things tho so take that with a grain of salt but i liked one scene where the strippers go all vigilante justice and start attacking a skeezy (but not guilty) strip club patron with a metal pipe and the undercover stripper-cum-ladycop catches and stops them and asks them why they didn't call the cops if they thought he was the murderer and they're like "because they don't care about us"
I thought men liked watching tits flop around in front of them.
After watching Galaxy or Terror here I am watching yet another Roger Corman-produced flick from the director of Poison Ivy and The Rage: Carrie 2.
Strippers are being knocked off one by one so what else is there to do than send in a female cop undercover? Detective Cody Sheehan (Kay Lentz) stumbles upon a stripper being burnt alive and is persuaded by her partner/lover to go undercover at the local strip club to do some digging. She takes part in an amateur night at the club even though she can't dance for shit she bares the goods and is hired by the sleazy owner. It's about as…
Like a lot of vintage nudie films, mostly a series of strip-teases linked by a clothesline thriller plot, in this case an undercover cop investigating a serial killer. Updated for contemporaneous standards of sleaze, including teased hair, Frederick's of Hollywood lingerie, some very dubious gender politics, and of course Norman Fell.
“You dance for me.”
[D]espite his enthusiasm for the unclad female form, Corman at first strongly resisted Shea’s 1986 pitch. Stripped to Kill finally got made in 1987….Roger’s yearlong delay in approving the project stemmed partly from Shea’s inexperience; he also doubtless recoiled from the fact that the narrative she wanted to tell contained a key transvestite element. But ultimately Corman was swayed by a strong woman who believed in something with all her heart.

Deny the Night
The first of four films Katt Shea made for Roger Corman, three of which revolve around the world of strippers, it could be argued that Stripped to Kill kicked off the trend of strip-club…

A series of Roger Corman Tribute Reviews - #1
On my exploration of films directed by and produced by Roger Corman, I came across this intriguing looking poster. Looked pretty fire (literally 🔥) so I took the plunge.
What I found is like the most aimless, yet somewhat entertaining erotic thriller I’ve ever seen.
Slashtastic Strip Enducing Spoilers Ahead 🔪
The film follows a police investigation into the murders of several strippers at the Rock Bottom club. Cody must go undercover to investigate the scene, as a stripper.
The characterization is unfortunately quite poor as there are too many characters with not enough focus. The editing is really jarring and all over the place in…
The real criminal was Roger Corman murdering the edit of this movie. What's left is stylish strip sequences that go on forever, charming female bonding, and a fun (and questionable) climax.
Coulda used less of that jerk male cop.
During her appearance on the Movie Crypt podcast, episode 599, director Katt Shea retells the conception for STRIPPED TO KILL (1987), in what would become the actress’s directorial debut. Her husband and writing partner Andy Ruben thought it would be funny to force her to go to a strip club. “I didn’t want to go because I felt it was humiliating to women”, but then something happened as she watched the girls perform. “I saw a girl swinging around on a pole and I thought, ‘Oh my god this has got to be in a movie!’ I mean, nobody knows this goes on except a bunch of guys with dollar bills, so it just had to be exploited, I guess”.…
Roger Corman - KING of the B-Movies! Community-Event 07.06.-09.06.
Executive Producer: Roger Corman
Lest selbst:
Stripped to Kill macht schnell und unmissverständlich klar was hier Sellingfaktor…
Neon, fog, and sleaze – "Stripped to Kill" really nails the vibe. It's like spending a full night in a strip club, brushing shoulders with all sorts of shady yet kind-hearted weirdos. Everyone looks like they belong, especially the undercover partner – a total 80s undercover cliché with his mullet, stubble, fingerless gloves, earrings, and rolled-up trench coat sleeves. It's weirdly cozy, but the actual murders feel secondary and are mostly bloodless.
My biggest issue? There's a super stretched-out strip scene every ten minutes. No joke. It's fun at first, but after a while, it just drags the story down. You kind of want the plot to finally kick in. The whole thing feels a bit smaller and cheaper than something 80s De Palma would've done – maybe even a little amateurish. Still, kinda fun.

Initially titled "Deception", this was made in the long-standing tradition of producer Roger Corman giving female directors a chance to direct, following Stephanie Rothman with "The Student Nurses (1970)", "The Velvet Vampire (1971)" and "Terminal Island (1973)", Amy Holden Jones with "The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)", of which the sequels and remake were also directed by female directors, and Barbara Peeters with the notorious but excellent, "Humanoids from the Deep (1980)".
Director Katt Shea started out as an actress in films like "My Tutor (1983)", porn director Chuck Vincent's non-porn comedy "Hollywood Hot Tubs (1984)", and for Roger Corman she went to Argentina as the second choice for a part in "Barbarian Queen (1985)".…
