As a child of the 80s, I’m surprised I didn’t see this at some point. I guess because it came out after I was already away at College.
Either way, this is a delirious slice of pure 80s garbage. It takes wayyyyy too long to get to demon action, but once that kicks in its non-stop fun. Sure, it cribs too much from Evil Dead, but when you have a goth witch dancing provocatively while possessed to Bauhaus And Lineah Quigley doing her best 80s exploitation thing, and great demon action who cares? Solid effects and a good final girl (dressed as Alice in Wonderland of course), plus the token black guy actually gets away too!
I was really bored for the first 40 minutes or so, but the second half really redeemed itself. Plus the final coda with the old man was delightfully unexpected.
A terrific fun watch.
