Here's a bit of magic: watched this last night then called the film's director (Waris) and he told me a bit about it. His main bone to pick is his strong preference of his own version to Lean's version, so he told me to call him again after seeing Lean's version. He said "Lean made an orchestral piece, I made a chamber suite, for the story I prefer the latter."

I look forward to comparing the two. I am probably the youngest person alive to have seen them in the release order, as Lean's version was 1000x more well viewed and acclaimed. My assessment to come.

One of the easiest 10/10s in recent memory. Cinema of expansion, fish out of water, and a clear predecessor to many favorites.
