Jim Wynorski tackles Edgar Allan Poe in this atmospheric gothic tale and by atmospheric I mean lots of nudity. The beginning of this flick sets up the rest of the movie as a witch is being burned. I guess she could float and they weren't sure if she was a duck or a witch but either way she had to burn. Years later the spirit of the burned witch wants to make a comeback but things aren't as easy as one would expect.

Viel kann ich einige Tage nach der Sichtung nicht mehr über dieses Hexendrama mit Titten zu Protokoll geben. 

Über den Plot will ich sowieso gar nicht zu viel reden, der ist relativ rudimentär. Wer auf solche Filme steht wird bedient. Grosse Erwartungen sollten dennoch nicht formuliert werden. Horrorfeeling kommt selbstredend keines auf. Dafür gehen die Kostüme in Ordnung. Auch der Blutanteil lässt sich sehen. Einige der Damen, die sich regelmäßig nackig machen, sind sehr hübsch. 

Nicole Eggers ist hier zweifellos das Highlight und darf teilweise in ihrer Doppelrolle auch brillieren. Leider zeigt sie sich nur mit Hilfe von Bodydoubles nackig. David McCallum (langjähriger…

Watching immediately after Transylvania Twist had me primed for jokes and hijinks, and with one of the first lines being “...under the crimes of witchcraft, blasphemy...and murder”, which I thought was a sly dig at religion, I was bit surprised how accomplished at was at being an actual tale of evil, not really a haunting through.

The rest of the film plays like a classic horror story, and Wynorski doesn’t “tarnish” the material by trying to make it goofy. He does add a whole lot of blood-covered and water-drenched boobs though, so his magic touch isn’t completely unseen.

This means more boobs, more blood and also boobs covered in blood.
There are also a few charming practical effects like Morella's skeleton bleeding and screaming with glowing eyes. Besides being more straight and serious in tone, this still feels very much like a classic Wynorski film in some of the best ways. It's entertaining for the most part and the cast is actually pretty good. Auf den war ich ja schon lange scharf, weil der noch zu der Zeit gehört, als unser Gottkönig Jim Wynorski noch die Gaudis rausgehauen hat und richtig Roger-Corman-Kohle hatte. Praktisch also, dass der Glimmer den jetzt seiner Auswahl hatte.

In der Kolonialzeit wird die Hexe Morella hingerichtet, während Ehemann und Baby zuschauen. Jahre später ist die Tochter erwachsen und soll ein Erbe antreten. Genau da will Morella wieder zurück, indem sie sich den Körper der Tochter schnappt.

Darstellerisch enttäuscht der Jim mal wieder überhaupt nicht und karrt alles ran, womit er später noch ordentliches Tittenkino gedreht hat. Allen voran Nicole Eggert, Lana Clarkson, Maria Ford und Gail Harris sind…
