John Carter. But better. Just kidding. They both suck. Not gonna lie, it took the power of the pipe to finish this one. One star because Jack Palance.
Going through the directorial efforts of stuntman-turned-sometimes-director, John ‘Bud’ Cardos, and this film is unfortunately one of his.
It’s nowhere near as good/fun/ridiculous as Kingdom of the Spiders or Act of Piracy, though. No, this is pretty painfully dull, with fight scenes done at a quarter speed and a sleepy Jack Palance having no clue what he’s doing playing this cosmic priest.
The only thing worse than watching trash, is watching boring trash.
[MST3K Version] I don’t know how Jack Palance and Pino Donaggio got hooked into this amateur hour production. The sets have never looked so cheap, the acting so wooden, and the stunt doubles so... Spaceballs-y. I am at a loss. This is horrific, but at least it’s amusingly entertaining...kinda.
“You ghastly wwwwwwwooorrrmm!”
For a story that's ostensibly about a planet full of sexy slave women this is pretty chaste.
Ninety minutes of bottom tier 80s fantasy crap shot on cheap sets and rock quarries with almost competent acting and dire stunt work. The fight scenes are hilarious!
Jack Palance once again looks embarrassed, at least he has a bigger part than the first one. Despite the nonsense this is watchable enough if you like fromage. The director Bud Carlos is still alive at age 90, as is author John Norman at 89.
The best version of this I could find was the MST3K one. 😑
Film #734 of 2020.
Elder: "You've come to a land called Gor. Gor is a harsh world and she breeds harsh people."
Tom Servo: "But the rents are reasonable."

A hero and his loser friend are teleported by a rose quartz because The Elder (he has no name, Just "The Elder") thinks that Xeno, (the Priest played by Jack Palance, so at least there's that) has eyes for the throne. Of course, Cabot cares nothing for such intrigue just for the Princess he romanced from the previous film "Gor" (also crap). The Elder is off, though. It's the Queen who wants the throne for her own. Naturally, Watney is seduced by the Queen to implicate Cabot murdering the King, and Cabot and his…
