It's that time of the year again. Time for Hooptober 5.0.
I've been collecting possible titles for this years challenge ever since the last one ended. So I've prepared my list for a whole year before the requirements even got official and I'm not sure if I would even manage to get a list ready this year if I hadn't done that previous work.
Since this year has been an especially hard one for me because some terrible shit really knocked me out and I'm still figuring out how to deal with all of this Hooptober is becoming an important part of my recovery.
Film has always been one of my biggest interests, maybe even THE biggest. But when shit…
But when shit hit the fan this year and my mental illnesses started feeding from that and got especially bad I lost interest in anything I used to care about. Anhedonia is a hell of a thing. I'm still trying to find that joy again and get back what I used to feel when it comes to movies.
I participated in Halloween themed challenges on Letterboxd for several years now and I know I have to continue doing that because I need to keep in touch with the things I used to love. I need to do this if I ever wanna get out of the depression hole.
So that's why I'm calling my list this year Spooks Against Sadness.
It's gonna be especially hard for me to finish the challenge this year but it's important for my health.
Even when I don't feel like doing anything right now -- or maybe because of that -- I need to do this because it's what the me that used to feel better wanted and future me would be upset with me if I wouldn't have at least tried.
