Praise the dead, it's finally that time of the year again! But this year, certainly with more melancholia than before, seeing as we not only lost George A. Romero but also Tobe Hooper this year. It certainly has put some special feelings towards this in me, but ultimately it feels beautiful to honor them by watching the kinds of film they loved to make.
So, my anticipation for this year's Hoop-tober-challenge made by the monstrous Cinemonster is no less than before and this year I'm going as all-in as possible. So, my anticipation for this year's Hoop-tober-challenge made by the monstrous Cinemonster is no less than before and this year I'm going as all-in as possible. With the challenge spanning between 15th of September and the 31st of October — I'm trying to cram in as many films as possible. I'll be doing the Cult Movie Challenge and Film School Drop-Out Challenge but have included as many of those films as possible into this challenge.
For the overall instructions, there's the main list but here follows the criterias for this year and in the notes I've included descriptions of what films fulfill which criterias.
6 sequels (mix-and-match. 6 total)
6 countries
6 decades
6 films from before 1970
6 films from the following: Carpenter, Raimi, Whale, Browning, Craven, Tom Holland (mix-and-match, or all one)
3 people eating people (non-zombie)
1 Hammer Film
1 Romero Dead film
1 terrible oversight (use the following link, filter out the films you've seen and picked the highest rated film from the list that you can get ahold of) letterboxd.com/films/genre/horror/by/rating/size/small/
And 2 Tobe Hooper Films (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film) plus the original and new version of IT as some extra work.
So thrilled to go into this soon and looking forward to read tons of stuff from everyone involved. Stay scared everybody!
