"The Dinner Scene"
I don't make lists very often but I compiled this short list of films off the top of my head and thought it was interesting. These are films with what are called in the world of cinema "The Dinner Scene". Now these aren't just any dinner scenes. A dinner table/dinner in theory is a symbol of tranquility, family, home, or familiarity. Many of us have dinner tables and have had dinner with family members/friends, its a common thing. Well the director takes this familiar practice and uses it as a vessel to either further the plot or build on tension and/or atmosphere. I love the dinner scene because its a great way to fully display a characters psyche or their current state of mind. It also allows you to see viewpoints from multiple characters. The Dinner Scene is an intimate psychogical device and these films use them highly effectively. (If you have any suggestions I'd love that maybe I haven't seen it and could watch)
