What a compelling animated film on a style that hasn't been utilized in this way with an adult situation. It's a smart and engaging noir that has sharp twists so much so that I had to rewind to fully pick up on and an engaging approach of with a dark discovery that has many characters involved and also self discovery in the material once they find out. This is definitely worth seeking out regardless if you love animation cause I would hate for you to be left hanging on the feline 😉👍

Animated cats or not, Felidae most definitely qualifies as a krimi or giallo German style

Imagine coming home from work to discover your pet cat has ostensibly become a combo Hitler & Mengele for the neighborhood feline population and your house burnt down, as a sort of Reichstag fire, in the process. This is why I'm a dog person.

This movie was recommended to me by my movies bro and he told me to watch it so I decided to watch it. It's an animated movie with a special animation that I liked because it has a type that I really like. It's an old animation movie which you can see but it doesn't look bad on the contrary it's good. The story is also well done and has a bit of thriller and mystery to it. The story is a bit unique and when you hear animated movie you might think of a children's movie but this movie is not a children's movie. The story is dryly good though and has good elements such as the ending. Overall a good movie with a very good animation and a good story. And don't forget to check out my movie Bro: @therealredhood

Did they really have to animate the cats’ assholes though?

Female cats are found dead, gutted, and decapitated in the streets! A cat cult is rampant amongst the feline population! Dreams of cat-hell and kitty limbs are raping our minds! 

This is not a children’s cartoon by any means, but handles the mutilations and severed cats in a way that tonally fits the horror of these mysteries and doesn’t feel shocking to be shocking. Even the most innocent cartoons like Dumbo go into dreamscape nightmares and disturbing imagery. 

The animation was pretty solid. The world and characters were likeable, fleshed out... especially considering how much people say this is trashy or outlandish, I felt the story itself was the driving force and not the shock value alone. A mix of cults, a mad scientist, street cat gangs, and murder! If you like the dark undertones of Brave Little Toaster and Great Mouse Detective with more gore, sex, and language this is definitely worth the watch!

Weekly Film Club Vol. 20

Great animation, great writing, great voice acting. Felidae is honestly a really great lesser known animated film, and it never holds back its punches. It is extremely brutal, and at times horrifying. My favorite parts were definitely the strange dream and nightmare sequences in which a sea of dead cats were the background and the foreground, invading your mind as our lead character tries to run away.

When those dreams start to line up with reality the film really steps up to the plate as well. There is a scene later on where they find a underground area full of cat skulls and stuff and those same invasive thoughts begin to seep into your mind again. Not only that but there are a lot of similarities to the plot of secret of NIMH, I just enjoyed this film much more. So definitely check on this one if you are interested, it is great.

Don’t think they’ll be picking up this one for Disney+.
