How long you been drinking bottled water, Ben? How long???
After watching The Evil Below, which looked like an aquatic horror movie but wasn't, I still had an aquatic horror itch to scratch. I pressed play on Barracuda.
The credits rolled over underwater footage while ominous music played. So far, so good.
Then, I see it -
Starring WAYNE DAVID CRAWFORD
The same Wayne Crawford in the horrible Evil Below movie I just watched? The Wayne Crawford whose only positive review noted in his wikipedia bio was a Variety quote saying "well played"?
It got worse -
Underwater Sequences Directed by WAYNE CRAWFORD
Story and Screenplay by WAYNE CRAWFORD
Produced by WAYNE CRAWFORD
This is how I, unfortunately, came to accidentally watch a Wayne Crawford double feature today.
Against my better judgement, I kept watching. It's a killer barracuda movie, it couldn't be another bait and switch like The Evil Below.
But, of course, it was.
This was the second Wayne Crawford movie in a row that you would assume is a horror movie based on the title, poster, tagline and plot synopsis but isn't a horror movie at all. Sure, there's a few barracuda attacks, but the primary focus is on uncovering a conspiracy involving a chemical plant polluting the local waters.
Fooled me twice, Wayne Crawford. As Variety would say, well played. Well played indeed.
