“Donnie, you know, sometimes I think in that orphanage they dropped you on your fuckin’ head.”
One of my new favorite scenes in movie history is Tim Blake Nelson, Paul Giamatti and Johnny Depp sitting in a circle talking about the many meanings of ‘fuhgettaboutit’.
I will always remember when Pacino said he shit his pants after being scared by a lion.
can you believe out of all the things a gangster movie could make me feel, it made me sad about friendship
“Even a dog gets a warm piece of the sidewalk.”
I forgot how phenomenal Pacino is in this thing.
Pacino is like the most likable person on the planet. This movie was REALLY GOOD. Not my favorite from this genre of films but I still really enjoyed it. Depp, Pacino and Michael Madsen all were terrific, their performances carried this movie all the way through till the end.
7/10
I've had many people disagree with me on this but I hold Donnie Brasco up at the same level that I hold the Godfather. A gangster movie that is worthy of being held alongside it. The fact that it is mostly real life events makes the story even more hard hitting however I am aware the reality of a story doesn't make it a good film. What makes this an amazing film is the cast, script, direction and complete creation of 1970's America. Newell does a fantastic job in creating and filming this world.
However, Pacino and Depp as the joint leads of this movie are unstoppable. One of the best performances from Depp ever and one of the best…
where else are you gonna see al pacino get scared by a lion and in the very next scene feed the lion cheeseburgers while johnny depp tries his best to not get his hand bitten off?
"Forget about it" is, like, if you agree with someone, you know, like "Raquel Welch is one great piece of ass. Forget about it!". But then, if you disagree, like "A Lincoln is better than a Cadillac? Forget about it!". You know? But then, it's also like if something's the greatest thing in the world, like, "Minghia! Those peppers! Forget about it!". But it's also like saying "Go to hell!" too. Like, you know, like "Hey Paulie, you got a one-inch pecker?" and Paulie says "Forget about it!". Sometimes it just means "Forget about it."
This picture didn't win Best Adapted Screenplay on the strength of that monologue alone? Forget about it!
