This has got to be one of the oddest movies, tonally, that I've ever seen. Like brotastic sports comedy combined with over the top romantic monologue? Beyond strange.

Ray is not a child's name. Every single time she mentioned Ray I thought "oh, she got an uncle I missed?"

I don't really buy the central romance! Don't think it works for me, don't think it should've ended the way it did. I feel like this movie works entirely on the strength of its supporting cast, which explains why CBJ walked away with an Oscar. Kinda crazy that of the four principle actors (Cuba, Regina, Renee) Cruise is the one without an Oscar. Also cannot believe I've lived this much of my life without knowing that the full context of "show me the money" is him also yelling "I love black people" after having called himself "Mr. Black People." Unfair that only the one sentence became a cultural touchstone. They should've been selling "Mr. Black People" shirts in Times Square.
